Dragon Spotlight with Kristian

In the Spotlight

Twitter is the space where you can find all sorts of talented people. One has great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and in rare cases you might even find a kindred spirit.

So, without further ado…

It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to Kristian:

Picture of Kristian Cloud shirtless with black pants, sitting in a crouched position,

… an independent eclectic all-around artist and renaissance man based around Rochester, NY. His talents include poetry, storytelling, voice-acting, singing, composing, producing, painting, performing, and rapping

Clearly a multi-talented individual ready for the spotlight. So let’s dive right in and get to know all about this amazing artiste.

Tell readers about yourself

As a musician, I go by Kristian Cloud, to show that I can adapt to many different genres. My intention is to rather focus on the overall mood of the music itself, as opposed to fitting it in a specific style. Like lightning, I express myself with clear authenticity of spirit.

As an author, I go by Kristian Proud, because I am proud of who I have become. Especially proud to be an advocate to those who suffer from depression, anxiety, bipolar ‘disorder’, schizophrenia, or any other form of ‘mental illness’. By sharing my own story, I hope to instill a sense of reassuring calm into other people’s daily existence.

Tell readers about what you do

I create music and write stories. My latest musical release is called ‘Electric Blues, Vol: S’. It is an eight song long album dedicated to where I was at that time in my life (11/11/2019). EBVS is on all streaming platforms.

I also write stories and poems. My latest and first officially published book is entitled ‘Majesty & Travesty’, and is available on Amazon as e-book and paperback. This is a 143 poem long book that goes through mania, depression, imagination, romance, possession, reflection and release.

I hope you’ll take a moment to read or listen or skim through my work. Especially when you need reassurance on your most taboo feelings or attitudes toward life.

Tell me about your website/podcast/blog

On my website you’ll find all my art, literature, and music currently for sale. I kept the design really simple but eye catching. I love the sun and the moon as symbols, so I showcased that duality as the banner on all pages. Duality is a theme that I really do love to explore deeply.

Pick one of your creations. Why this one?

I choose my latest publication ‘Majesty & Travesty’.  I’m choosing this one because it is my baby right now, LOL.

Cover of poetry book. Black background, crimson and ultramarine text

Well, I love a lot about this. There are 143 poems in total (1 4 3 = I love you, if you didn’t know). The poems are organized into 13 chapters named after the zodiac signs while each chapter contains 11 poems. I love that the math added up so well for this project. It really was meant to happen.

Something else I love about my premier work in the field of literature, is the contrast of human emotion that is showcased. The poems themselves are very far-reaching in terms of range. There are some gut-wrenching ones, and others are hopeful and bright.

I love how this is further displayed in the cover itself. Its my art. I tried to make the colours speak for themselves. You know… to make the crimson and ultramarine as bright as can be, and the black as dark and deep as can be.

The title also connects with this duality. Not ‘Majesty in Travesty’. Not ‘Majesty to Travesty’. But ‘Majesty & Travesty’. It implies the fact that one can not exist without the other. What is the quote they say… “Heavy is the head that wears the crown.”

If you could have a conversation with your younger self, what would you say?

I would say:

  • Start creating and perfecting your crafts while still in high school
  • Your radiant spirit shines eternally more than any test score, let that be your focus.
  • Especially, that everything is going to be alright.

If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

I would choose 33 because that number means a lot to myself, and to a lot of people. Although I would argue that the spirit does not age. It can be as young as it is now, or as young as it was at age 3, or even as young as it was at birth. I am everlastingly renewed in the flames of rebirth and purity of the newest moment.

What’s The Worst Haircut You Ever Had?

LOL. Okay, in high school I had let my old friend cut my hair. He did a terrible job, and I had a date the next day too. In fact this was the first date I’d ever been on. I decided to shave my head bald like a true air bending master would. It was still a very awkward date. At that time in my life I was someone who was trying to impress rather than express.

Off the top of your head, who would you give a shout out to on Twitter?

Well first off @arcanedrag0n, thank you for allowing me to be interviewed and being interested in my works. Also would give shout outs to:

Would You Rather Have A Rewind Button Or A Pause Button On Your Life?

Pause button most definitely. I would pause my life and chiiiiiilllllllll. That’s why I meditate.

Imagine the best version of yourself. Who is that?

I imagine them every day by and through being them to the best of my ability. They are someone who lives in the heart, truly, and understands that the heart is really the source of all existence. Knowing this, evolution is inevitable.

What’s Rocking Your World This Month?

Well, the poetry book is definitely rocking my world as I am learning best practices for promotion and distribution in general. But I do also have a new music release I’m calling ‘Jesucifer’ coming out on December 26th, the date of the eclipse (I think).

I try to line my music releases up with important happenings. For example my first two EPs, Electric Blues, Vol: K and Electric Blues, Vol: R were released on 4/20/2018 and 6/1/2018 respectively. 4/20 is important in its own right (LOL) but also J. Cole happened to release his album ‘K.o.D.’ on that day. As for 6/1/2018 Kanye (my favorite artist other than myself) released one of his most profound works ‘ye’. Electric Blues, Vol: I was released on 03/30/2019 (my birthday) and Electric Blues, Vol: S was on 11/11/2019 (make a wish).

I think it’s important to recognize that every aspect is as important as the most importantly perceived aspect.

What would you like to tell Dragons Codex readers?

Stay true to your hearts deepest strivings.

I hope you enjoyed the first interview for 2020. May there be many more interesting people on this journey through life.

    1. The world is a huge place, but it is this kind of interaction that makes it seem so much smaller. Thanks so much for giving my blog some of your time.
